Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of San Diego selected restaurateur Bertrand Hug as the recipient of its inaugural CFF Grand Chef Throwdown Icon Award. Hug was honored at the seaside soiree at the Hotel Del featuring 30+ San Diego and Baja chefs. The evening brought together celebrity top chefs and food critics, including Hug, who engaged in a blind tasting of dishes from the chefs competing to be presented with the coveted Chef Flor Franco Award for Culinary Excellence, which was awarded to Chef Phil Esteban of the forthcoming WellFed. The event raised more than $333,000 to support the organization’s mission of care and a cure for cystic fibrosis.
