Rancho Coastal Humane Society’s Celebration of Second Chances took place at Del Mar Country Club and was hosted by Jeff and Heather Zevely. Karen Sickels was the recipient of the 2025 Animal Hero Award. “Karen became involved with RCHS by virtue of her long-term relationship with FOCAS (Friends of County Animal Shelters), now the signature adoption program at RCHS,” said Susan Howell Mallory, RCHS Board Chair and daughter of FOCAS founder Peggy Howell. RCHS President and CEO Judi Sanzo revealed the shelter’s new logo featuring a human hand holding a paw, pointing out that 91% of every dollar spent goes directly to programs and services. Pam Cesak and Lori Ello were Celebration co-chairs.
