Ten years ago, Fabienne Hanks conducted a home inventory to share the history behind family treasures with her sons. Hanks believes that heirlooms — whether silver, crystal, furniture, or art — all have a past to be shared. “Stories used to be passed from generation to generation, but now in this global environment, so much is lost in translation,” she says. Hanks formed San Diego-based Red Dots Legacy Service to provide a comprehensive inventory of prized possessions and the stories behind them for both posterity and insurance purposes. After an in-home consultation, the service compiles a detailed description of each item with photographs, electronic and printed inventories, and certified appraisals upon request. “It’s much more special to inherit a piece of jewelry and to know the story behind the piece,” says Hanks. 619.843.6006, reddotsinventory.com Andrea Naversen
