Going Wild
Tiffany Blue Book
Posted on April 20, 2017
Nature’s power and beauty provided inspiration for the 2017 Tiffany Blue Book, an over-the-top collection of high-end jewelry and timepieces. “The Art of the Wild” is the product of the Tiffany design team’s trek to a remote tropical island. There, they found stimulus in the energy of the rain forest, the sheer force of waterfalls, the colorful plumage of exotic birds, and the delicacy of flower petals. Yellow gold fronds form a collar studded with more than 200 baguette diamonds. A cuff of tsavorites and yellow sapphires wrap the wrist in palm leaves. A dragonfly floats on the dial of a watch set with colored gemstones and diamonds, one of 15 timepieces informed by nature’s flora and fauna. The Blue Book collection is not only visually dazzling, but also technically demanding. “We are always pushing the boundaries of innovation, and doing things that we’ve never done before, working with different types of materials, finishes, and stone settings,” says Melvyn Kirtley, Tiffany’s Chief Gemologist and Vice President of High Jewelry.
