Cool fitness gear can take some of the work out of your workouts in the New Year. GRACEDBYGRIT, the fitness apparel line created by athletes and entrepreneurs Kimberly Caccavo and Kate Nowlan, is a case in point. The Solana Beach-based brand features sportswear created for sea, shore, and style, from half-zips to hoodies, shorty suits to golf skirts, knickers to “mermaid leggings.” Built with “a team of smart, talented women,” Nowlan says, “the brand is about empowering women; about making you feel great.” Nowlan, a run and swim coach, and Caccavo conceived the line, fittingly, while running — and talking about the lack of women’s workout gear that is both flattering and high performance. They also learned they had something else in common — major life events — which tested them and ultimately led to the name of their line. “Every woman has a gritty moment that could make or break her,” they write on their Web site. “It is how we make it through those moments that define us.
