Shop Globally in Del Mar

For unusual goods and gifts, check out Fair Trade Décor, a new shop in Del Mar that just celebrated its grand opening on World Fair Trade Day. Handcrafted items from around the globe include such bestsellers as blankets made of alpaca from Ecuador, repurposed saris from India, and metal art fashioned from recycled oil drums in Haiti. Owners Betsy and Jude Paganelli of Carmel Valley buy products from vendors tied to organizations that are committed to the practices of fair trade. The Fair Trade Federation, for example, supports farmers and artisans in developing countries by establishing long-term relationships and offering advance payments to purchase raw materials.
