The Role of Compassion in Social Change

Jewish Family Service of San Diego’s Center for Jewish Care will welcome social justice activist and author Rabbi Shmuly Yanklowitz for a luncheon focused on compassion.

The afternoon focuses on how the core Jewish value of compassion can serve as a catalyst for social transformation. In a thought-provoking discussion in conversation with Michael Hopkins, CEO of Jewish Family Service, Rabbi Yanklowitz will reference contemporary case studies and his own experiences. This discussion focuses on how San Diegans can practice compassion — through empathy, integrity and kindness — in today’s increasingly complicated world. The luncheon, a part of the Center for Jewish Care’s ongoing work to help San Diegans access critical services for their immediate needs, is a fundraiser for Jewish Family Service of San Diego.
