Summer Surf Series

Join the Coronado Island Film Festival on the shores of the Hotel Del Coronado beach for its Summer Surf Series.

The August 8 event features a screening of Step Into Liquid, an iconic documentary about surfing directed by Dana Brown, son of famed surfer and filmmaker Bruce Brown. The 2003 film was described by Rolling Stone’s Pete Travers as “the best surfing documentary ever made,” because it’s “drop-dead dazzlingly knockout beautiful” and features such star surfers as Laird Hamilton, Kelly Slater, and Ken “Skindog” Collins, taking viewers from the birthplace of surfing, Hawaii, to Southern California, Vietnam, Ireland, and points beyond.

The August 29 screening features A Life of Endless Summers: The Bruce Brown Story, an exclusive retrospective documentary on Bruce’s life told by Dana, who will be present for a post screening Q+A at both films.
