Mother of the Maid

The Southern California premiere of Mother of the Maid at Moxie Theatre, a 99-seat venue, is about bravery and what fosters it.

Playwright and Emmy Award winner Jane Anderson has written a play about Joan of Arc and her mother, Isabelle, an example of often overlooked players in stories of remarkable women. Faced with the baffling journey of her extraordinary daughter, Isabelle provides the safety that encourages her daughter’s bravery.

Set in 1428, but in modern language, the production boasts an all-female design team. Moxie continues to lead the way in fearlessness.
