Congratulations to the winners of Ranch & Coast’s Best of People & Personalities 2025

Editors’ Pick, The GOAT of Skateboarding: Tony Hawk San Diego native Tony Hawk, the legendary skateboarder, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, turned pro at just 14 years old, was crowned vertical skating’s world champion 12 years in a row, and landed the first 900 at the X Games. He co-founded Birdhouse Skateboards and Hawk Clothing, launched the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater video game franchise (one of the most popular game franchises in history), and continues to perform worldwide (as photographed here at his skate ramp in Vista in April 2025). The Tony Hawk Foundation has awarded more than $13 million in grants to 660+ skateparks, making him an enduring icon in action sports and youth advocacy.

Celebrated for his Michelin-starred Valle de Guadalupe restaurants, Deckman’s en El Mogor and Conchas de Piedra, that emphasize sustainable, open-flame cooking, Drew Deckman and his wife, Paulina, found San Diegans rejoicing when they established their culinary presence stateside with the 2024 opening of 31ThirtyOne in North Park. That debut was soon followed by Deckman’s at the Draft in Petco Park, and there is talk of an additional venture on the horizon, marking another step in the exciting ongoing expansion of Deckman’s Restaurant Group.
