Whether a film industry leader or a big screen beginner, the San Diego International Film Festival is the region’s paramount film event for all types of audiences. It is a noteworthy stop on the independent festival circuit, and in its 17th year, continues its philanthropic mission “to explore issues of global impact, to create dialogue, and ultimately to develop empathy and understanding in an increasingly diverse and complex world.” Watch world premieres, never-before-seen studio releases, and soon-to-be Hollywood showstoppers. This intimate festival will be chock-full of rookie and veteran filmmakers, luxurious parties, and intimate soirées with producers, directors, and more.
On October 11, the festival’s Night of the Stars Tribute at the Pendry San Diego will honor several notables in a range of categories. Kenny Loggins will be honored with the Icon Music Award, Topher Grace will receive the Cinema Vanguard Award, Kathryn Hahn will receive the Fairbanks Award, John Cho will be honored with the Spotlight Award, Alex Wolff will receive the Auteur Award, and Christian Navarro will receive the Rising Star Award. 619.818.2221, sdfilmfest.com
