Celebrating its 30th year serving San Diego County, the San Diego Council on Literacy is hosting its annual Eat.Drink.Read., “A Culinary Event for Literacy,” at Liberty Station from 5:30-8pm to honor its longstanding partnerships and successes in improving literacy rates among targeted populations. Most recently, the Council immersed itself in the underserved community of El Cajon, and is rolling out new interventions for parents, families, and children. At the event, more than 25 chefs from San Diego County will create and serve a dish inspired by his or her favorite book. Winemakers, spirit distributors, and local craft breweries will pair libations to match the dishes. Guests can also enjoy samples from local chocolatiers, bread makers, coffee roasters, and other artisanal food purveyors. Tickets are $95. literacysandiego.org/edr
