San Diego Zoo — Editors’ Pick: Female-Driven TeamWhen we toured the Zoo’s new Wildlife Explorers Basecamp earlier this year, something struck us. In addition to a shared passion for creating healthy environments for the Zoo’s collection to inspire future generations in the care and conservation of the world’s creatures, the curators have something else in common: they are all women. Then, in April, Erika Kohler was named Executive Director of the San Diego Zoo, only the second woman in the Zoo’s 106-year history to hold the title. Together, these incredible women are working to advance the Zoo’s mission to save species and educate us so we learn to love and care about all things, from the cute and fuzzy to the slimy and slippery, and yes, even spiders. sdzwa.orgDeanna Murphy
