Day of Absence
In honor of Black History Month, Common Ground Theatre will produce Day of Absence, the one-act satirical play by Douglas Turner Ward that originally premiered off-off-Broadway in 1965.
The cast, made up in whiteface, recount the uproarious emergencies that occur when a Deep Southern town is faced with the sudden and inexplicable disappearance of all its Black citizens. Directed by Common Ground’s executive artistic director Yolanda Franklin, the performance will be available for online viewing.
