San Diego Center for Children’s 128th Anniversary Celebration
San Diego Center for Children’s 128th Anniversary Celebration
On Thursday, May 28, at 5:30pm, the San Diego Center for Children’s 128th Anniversary Celebration will take place at The US Grant, and will feature silent and live auctions, a three-course dinner, and live entertainment. The theme for this year’s event is “Children Blossom with a New Beginning,” and guests will enjoy a special intimate performance by jazz phenomenon Matt Savage, who overcame struggles with his own disability and diagnosis with autism as a boy. Savage taught himself how to read music and play the piano overnight, and began composing shortly thereafter. In his 22 years, he has used the power of music as a means for expression and an avenue to uncover his incredibly amazing potential. Much like the children at the San Diego Center for Children, Savage has discovered “a new beginning” and has experienced a great transformation in his life thus far. Committee co-chairs are Doreen Schonbrun and Susie Sides. SDCC, founded in 1887, is San Diego’s oldest accredited children’s nonprofit organization, offering comprehensive treatment programs for children and teens struggling with behavioral, emotional, and educational challenges.
