Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa continues its partnership with local San Diego nonprofit ProduceGood to support their mission of providing food to those in need. Rancho Valencia and ProduceGood will be having a “Quick Pick” at the resort on Tuesday, April 14, from 10-11:30am. Two to four volunteers will be picking lemons and oranges from the groves, using COVID-19 protocols of gloves, masks, and social distancing. The volunteers will harvest all ripe lemons and oranges, divide the harvest, and deliver them to the Community Resource Center and Kitchens for Good to provide to the food-insecure in the San Diego community.

“At Rancho Valencia, we are passionate about giving back to those in need, and this partnership with Produce Good allows us to assist in alleviating food insecurity in our community,” says General Manager Coni Thornburg. “We so appreciate the selfless work of Produce Good and all they do to support our local food banks who need our help now, more than ever, through these difficult days.”

ProduceGood provides a crucial link between growers and food banks where they are supplying both San Diego Food Bank and Feeding San Diego with thousands of pounds of nutritious citrus and avocados through its Orchard Upcycler program, which utilizes Urban Corps of San Diego County, who provides youth ages 18-26 with paid job training, while earning a high school diploma.

Over the course of the past year of this partnership, Rancho Valencia and ProduceGood have harvested almost 1,000 pounds of lemons from the resort’s on-property citrus groves to date.,
