An Evening With Kenny Rogers

On Thursday, March 21, Belly Up presents an evening with the renowned artist whose instantly-identifiable raspy vocals has afforded him great success through his storied career of nearly five-and-a-half decades. As of 2011, Kenny Rogers had recorded 65 albums and sold over 190 million records; by that time he had also starred in numerous silver screen and small screen productions.Rogers’ career first sky-rocketed when his self-titled country album and song “Lucille” both hit #1 on the charts. This legendary artist’s theme of successful back-to-back releases is a pattern that continues to this day. Most recently, Rogers has once again garnered critical acclaim with the 2012 releases of his latest album Amazing Grace (a collection of spiritual recordings featuring old classics and new favorites) and his new autobiography, Luck or Something Like It.
