Audiences continued to enjoy California Ballet’s annual production of a great Christmas favorite, The Nutcracker, in 2008. Staged by Maxine Mahon at the Civic Theatre, this production held youngsters and grownups equally spellbound.

 

Best Local Musical Performance 2008: Xanadu

What a kick Xanadu was at La Jolla Playhouse! This roller-skating pop-rock musical delivered familiar songs and a message about always following your dreams in an over-the-top production that made everybody happy.

 

Best Local Theatre Production 2008: Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas!

In The Old Globe’s 11th annual production, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! delighted audiences once again. Imaginative sets, costumes, and performers powered the stage version of this holiday classic.
