Hat Fashion & Fascinator Festivities at Del Mar Opening Day

The flag is up, and Opening Day hat contestants are getting ready. This Thursday, July 17, will be the 20th year of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club’s Opening Day Hat Contest, which has become one of the most spectacular fashion events in San Diego. Returning this year, and wearing many hats both literally and figuratively, is fashion visionary and contest contributor Deena Von Yokes.

 
Von Yokes is the master stylist, colorist, and owner of Studio Savvy Salon located in Rancho Santa Fe. Von Yokes and her entourage of incredibly talented Studio Savvy stylists and artists will be doing hair-styling, make-up, and embellishments for staff, and hat models on Opening Day.

 
Invited by Von Yokes to the panel of celebrity judges is her glamorous friend, designer, gardening educator, and pioneering supermodel Kelly Emberg. Emberg will bring her exquisite design flair to the judges’ table for this 20th year of the renowned contest. (www.studiosavvysalon.com)
