March for Babies 2010

Published

According to the March of Dimes, premature birth is the number one cause of newborn death in the United States, and one in eight babies is born premature. In San Diego County alone, an estimated 4,786 babies are born premature each year, and 246 babies don’t live to see their first birthday. On Saturday, April 10, at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, and on Saturday, April 24, at Balboa Park, local families, companies, friends, and neighbors will join hands to walk 3.1 miles (Encinitas) and 5 miles (Balboa Park) to fight for the health of babies. March for Babies is the March of Dimes’ premier fundraising event that benefits all babies — those born healthy and those who need help to survive and thrive.
