Surfs Up, Doggie

On September 8, man’s best friend hangs 20 at Dog Beach in Del Mar for the annual Helen Woodward Animal Center Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon. Owners and their pets will participate in 20-minute heats based on the dog’s weight class where they will be judged on their ability to stay on the board, ride the wave, and look awesome. All first place winners from each weight class will move on to the finals, with three dogs taking the final grand prizes. Other events include a canine costume contest and dog agility course.
