Running January 19 through April 12, Solana Beach’s Ordover Gallery presents Icons of the ’50s and ’60s: The Historic Black &White Photography of Leigh Wiener, a collection of Wiener’s powerful photos that captured the essence of some of America’s most famous faces. Wiener once said, “I am a photographer of people…that makes the job very difficult, because we all carry two images with us, one the mental image and one the physical image which I look at…I try very hard to get people as they are.” During his career, Wiener (1929-1993) photographed Paul Newman, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Sandy Koufax, Willie Mays, and JFK, among many others.
