Moxie Theatre’s productions are fresh and innovative, and the upcoming season is no exception. First up is playwright Johnna Adams’ newest, Skinless, about family secrets and the struggle to be heard. Sci fi figures in the plot, and a bonus is that the hugely talented Delicia Turner Sonnenberg is directing. Equally gifted actresses Jo Ann Glover and Lisel Gorell-Getz are in the cast. Skinless runs from November 1 through December 8.
Lynn Nottage’s Crumbs From the Table of Joy opens January 24, 2014, closing March 2, followed by the West Coast premiere of Mud Blue Sky, a new comedy about flight attendants and their mishaps during a long stopover. Add a teenage pot dealer to the misadventures. May 2 through June 8, 2014.
Moxie’s season closes with Jade Heart, authored by Will Cooper, running from July 19 through August 10, a tale of growing up adopted and Chinese in America. The central character, Jade McCullough, searches for her identity through one fragile clue. There are consequences of discovery, as loyalty shifts. (619.460.7700, www.moxietheatre.com) DARLENE G.
