Art Of Photography Show Happenings

The Opening Reception Gala and Awards ceremony for the fifth annual Art of Photography Show, an international competition and exhibition of photographic art, is set to take place on Saturday, August 29 at Lyceum Theatre Gallery. This free public reception will take place from 6-10pm and is expected to attract over 1,500 people, including artists and collectors from around the world. The final photographs were judged and selected from 16,000 entries from 57 countries by Charlotte Cotton, author of The Photograph as Contemporary Art and the curator and head of the Photography Department at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. A total of $10,000 in cash awards will be presented that night to the top 15 artists chosen by Cotton.

 

Then, on Sunday, August 30, at noon, Cotton will return for a special free talk and discussion on the scope of contemporary art photography and also the trends and challenges for this sphere of photography. This event is a must-see presentation for collectors of photography as well as artists working toward being exhibited in high-end galleries or museums, and for anyone interested in photography as contemporary art.
