Unique pieces fill new Rancho Santa Fe home

Posted on November 11, 2017

It took a whirlwind of global travel for Silvina Petrate to decorate this custom-built home in Rancho Santa Fe. Petrate, founder and owner of full-service interior design firm and high-end furniture retailer Nativa Interiors, was involved in the design of this 12,000-sqare-foot stunner from the time the construction crew first broke ground.

The relationship began when the homeowner visited the Nativa Interiors Cedros Design District showroom looking for a unique kitchen table to be used by his large family and many friends. Petrate proposed to custom build a massive, 15-foot-long table out of green ironwood, a precious wood from her native Argentina. The finished product, a spectacular table weighing in at more than a ton, had to be carefully moved into the house with a 15-man crew. It is the family’s favorite piece in their home.

Beyond that kitchen showstopper, Petrate and her team helped with interior details including doors, lighting, bath and other kitchen selections, and window treatments. Most of the furniture was custom made for each room using woods from around the world and special European fabrics. A custom Italian leather sectional in the large family room was built in front of the large screen TV to accommodate up to 20 people.

Elsewhere, a billiard table was created by a New York craftsman with the family monogram inlaid in brass on the wood rail. The living and dining room both feature exquisite marquetry cabinetry reminiscent of Italian antiques. In the master bedroom, the furniture was built using walnut and cherry wood and finished with Italian silks.

Despite the tremendous scale of this project, Nativa’s showrooms in Solana Beach and La Jolla feature a selection of unique furnishings and accessories to inspire every space. With Petrate’s vision and premium quality products, all roads lead to “beautiful.” nativainteriors.com
