The Patio at Night Pop-Up at Kitchen 1540
Through October, 2017
Kitchen 1540 at L’Auberge Del Mar will launch The Patio at Night Pop-Up on its patio on the evening of Wednesday, August 9, and will continue featuring ever-changing, directly-from-the-farm menus created by Executive Chef Nathan Lingle every Wednesday through Saturday from 5:30-9:30pm through October.
Lingle procures his products from a farm truck bearing pristine crops from Coachella Valley farmers, as well as locally produced proteins. At this casually romantic setting, The Patio at Night Pop-Up menu will feature, depending on the day, small plates and shareables such as Burrata Cheese with grilled peaches, smoked almonds and arugula salad; and Speckled Romaine with strawberries, smoked blue cheese and malt vinaigrette. Family plates and mains might be Chicken Alla Diavola, Corvina Bass with polenta and squash blossom, Cioppino with a tomato fennel broth, Lamb Porterhouse with broccoli rabe and chickpea ragu, or Skuna Bay Salmon with corn and tomato succotash.
To accompany The Patio at Night Pop-Up menus, the beverage team recommends one of its six newly curated selections of mainly from California sourced beer and wine flights or the French Champagne flight. For example, one beer flight offers Refuge Grapefruit IPA, Alesmith San Diego Pale Ale .394 and Fall ‘Plenty For All’ Pilsner. The California Blanc Board Wine Flight includes Tablas Creek Cotes De Tablas Blanc 2012, Paso Robles; Carr Pinot Gris 2013, Santa Rita Hills; and Jaffurs Viognier 2015, Santa Barbara County. And, Merlots of 2009 Flight is composed of Trinchero Daybreak Block, Napa Valley; Seven Hills Winery, Columbia Valley; and Hagafen, Napa Valley. Wine Wednesdays will feature market priced bottles and no corkage fees. And throughout the Pop-Up, guests will be entertained nightly by local performers.
The entrance to The Patio at Night Pop-up is from L’Auberge’s front drive or the resort’s amphitheater (no need to come into the hotel itself). Market lights strung overhead will lead the way, and a chalkboard will announce the day’s á la minute local farm menu. Kitchen 1540’s patio is casually romantic, complete with ocean breezes, private dining cabanas and umbrella-ed tables, fire pits, a waterfall, alluring hanging lanterns and a vertical, functional hydroponic garden.
