Caravan West Lifestyle is a new shop in coastal Encinitas that sources everything globally, featuring fair trade products. “My vision for the brand,” says owner Cate West, “is connecting artists and crafts from all over the world with our local community in SoCal.” The shop is filled with hand-loomed and hand-washed silk velvet pillows from Turkey; colorful beach totes woven by women in Madagascar; and poufs made from repurposed and rewoven vintage rugs. There’s also Sunnylife, a fun Australian line of beach, pool, patio, and party accessories. The shop offers furniture and full interior design services, too. Besides home goods, Caravan West also stocks bikinis, screen-printed Boho tops, and much more. West works directly with people in villages where she knows goods are produced ethically. “It might cost more,” she says of her inventory, “but it sustains a community.
