Guest rooms at L’Auberge Del Mar have a fresh, contemporary feel, thanks to interior designer Barclay Butera. Known for his coastal chic décor, Butera, who first redesigned the resort in 2008, has given the 121 guest rooms and suites a modern, beach-y flair, characterized by a background of crisp white and neutrals, accented with shades of soft sand, sea glass green, and ocean blue. The rooms include sumptuous, custom bedding, grass cloth-patterned wall coverings, and striped carpeting, highlighted with transitional art and sea-inspired accessories. The décor ties into L’Auberge’s public spaces, which open onto the ocean view terrace. L’Auberge has also teamed with photographer Aaron Chang, whose dynamic images of sea and surf are showcased throughout. The resort includes Kitchen 1540, Coastline for dining alfresco, Bleu Bar for cocktails, and a 5,000-square-foot spa. 858.259.1515, laubergedelmar.com    Andrea Naversen
