Hats Off to San Diego

The GOLD (Gifts Of Loving Donors) Diggers’ 22nd Annual Hats Off to San Diego will be celebrated on March 6 at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines with a theme of “America the Beautiful” and benefiting the Veterans Village of San Diego, Welcome Home Family Program. The centerpiece of the event is the Betty Mabee Hat Parade, and this year 15 local charities will be competing for prize money. Intriguing headgear created by each group will reflect the goals of their own nonprofits blended with the event theme. Contestants for 2015 include Angels of Aseltine, A Bridge for Kids, ElderHelp, Classics for Kids, Friends of Braille, San Diego Youth Ballet, and many more. The luncheon begins at 10:30am with a Champagne reception and silent auction. Event co-chairs are Charlotte Perry and Gerri Teyssier; Kristi Pieper is honorary chair. Admission is $100.
