4th Annual The Best of the Best, A Tribute to Culinary Art for the Senses

The Exclusive Collections Fine Art Gallery and The Marine Room have collaborated for a fourth year to create a feast for the senses at The Best of the Best, on Thursday, May 8, at The Marine Room in La Jolla. As one of the most extravagant events of the year, The Best of the Best will feature a one-of-a-kind tasting menu prepared by The Marine Room’s executive chef Bernard Guillas and chef de cuisine Ron Oliver, as well as wine pairings of these custom dishes by Marine Room’s advanced sommelier, Lisa Redwine. The iconic Marine Room was recently honored by Travel + Leisure as one of America’s Most Romantic restaurants.

 

This intimate and unforgettable experience will include an evening of live music, private viewings of Exclusive Collections Gallery’s original masterpieces, with a chance to interact and meet each Master Artist in an intimate setting. It is an experience like no other with a menu created especially for Best of the Best that complements the various works of arts being presented. Culinary creations that will please your palette palate and ensnare the senses include:

 

Spoons starters include: Goat Cheese Puff Ginger with Tomato Jam and Anise Vincotto , Porcini Brioche Cloud with Ambrosante Foam and Vanilla Lobster Medallion with Trout Caviar Pearls served with Monte Tondo Soave DOC Spumante Brut.

 

Le Diner options include: Sea Crudo with Oyster, Scallops and Giant Clam on Salt Pillows with Ceviche, Tartare Escabeche and Three Citrus Oil served with Muscadet, Pierre Henry Gadais, Sevre et Maine, Sur Lie, Loire.

 

Open Ocean Cobia with Ras El Hanout, Carrot Ginger Tabbouleh and Maltese Orange Emulsion served with Chardonnay, Luli, Santa Lucia Highlands, Central Coast.

 

Wattleseed Hazelnut Crusted Elk Loin with Boniato Tien, Farmer’s Market Vegetables, Chanterelles and Malbec Poivrade served with Merlot/Cabernet, Chateau Pasquet, Bordeaux, France.

 

Sinful course options include: Chocolate Gel over Salted Caramel Pot de Crème, Gianduja Pyramid Croqant or Cocoa Nib Gelato served with served with Brachetto, Banfi, Rosa Regale, Brachetto d’Acqui, DOCG, Piemonte, Italy.

 

Exclusive Collections Gallery’s Master Artists personally presenting their original masterpieces include:

 

  • Christopher M.: A contemporary artist that will continue his culinary legacy with delicious fervor as he paints the “maitrise de chefs” a tribute to the culinary arts. Christopher M.’s collection is sure to satisfy even the most discriminating palate.
  • Michael Summers: Famous for his “Pop Surrealist” paintings that portray a crisp and colorful world, alive with nostalgia, splendor, playfulness, and whimsy. Summers takes everyday objects and imagery and putting them in a new context, he encourages people to take another look at the world around them.
  • Michael Flohr: A contemporary oil painter whose paintings are a patchwork of avant-garde, impressionistic color exhibiting a stylistic fortitude that succeeds in redefining impressionism and abstract expressionism. Depicting ordinary moments in extraordinary ways, Flohr’s work displays an artist mastery of color, perspective, technique and vision.
  • Asencio: A contemporary oil painter whose work cannot be pigeonholed by style or semantics. Asencio’s open brushwork, sweeping color, use of texture and precise drawing skills have resulted in a body of work that has earned him international accolades.
  • Artists Daniel Merriam and Paul B. Lotz’s work with also be on display.
