Chef Bands 2014

Josh Kopelman and Sam the Cooking Guy are back again with their annual Battle of the Chef Bands — a competition of culinary experts turned rock and roll entertainers. Taking place at the Belly Up on Monday, January 27, at 6pm, the event will benefit Center for Community Solutions and will feature chefs and restaurants from Chef Showdown 2013.

 

Kopelman (of DiningOutSD) created Chef Bands as a way to gather musical chef talents for one night each year to rock out to fight domestic violence as a fundraiser for Center for Community Solutions (CSS.)

 

This year’s bands include those representing Urban Solace Restaurant, Jaynes Gastropub, Barleymash, Romesco Mexiterranean Bistro, Hodad’s Ocean Beach, Richard Walker’s Pancake House, BO-beau kitchen + bar, and Gang Kitchen, most of which will also be serving up food along with tasty bites from Eclipse Chocolate, Carnitas’ Snack Shack, Sadie Rose Baking Company, Cupcakes Squared, Toronado San Diego, Pacific Coast Grill, and Wild Note Café.

 

Judges include Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse Grille, Bernard Guillas of The Marine Room, Greg Koch of Stone Brewing Co., Candice Woo of Eater San Diego, Ian Ward of the Queen Ward Debrock Collective, chef Joe Busalacchi, and Tricia Tellier of Tellier & Co. The food tables will be judged by chef Patrick Ponsaty of Bellamy’s Restaurant and The Ranch at Bandy Canyon. (www.ccssd.org, www.bellyup.com)
