SDSU Music and Dance

The SDSU School of Music and Dance’s November attractions begin on the first night with a nod to National Opera Week via a program by the SDSU Opera at the Convivio Center in Little Italy. The same evening, as well as November 2, highlights the university’s dance program in the campus Dance Studio Theater with Bigmouth Strikes Again, choreographed by Jess Humphrey and Eric Geiger. $15 general admission.

 

Jazz trombonist Bill Watrous joins the SDSU Jazz Ensemble in Smith Recital Hall on November 7. Having performed with Woody Herman, Roy Eldridge, and Count Basie, Watrous was named the “Number one Jazz Trombonist” for seven consecutive years by Downbeat Magazine. $15 admission.

 

SDSU Opera Theatre performs A Grand Night on November 15, 16, and 17 in Smith Recital Hall, described as “a sparkling celebration of opera, operetta and the golden age of musical theatre.” General tickets are $18, with November 16 Grand Guest tickets at $50.

 

Save December 7 for the SDSU new Showcase Concerts, where guests self-select music and dance mini-concerts of their choice. Light bite receptions will be enjoyed between performances. Tickets are $25. (619.594.1017, www.musicdance.sdsu.edu)   DARLENE G. DAVIES
