58th Annual Art of Fashion Runway Show

58th Annual Art of Fashion Runway Show

Designs by Oscar de la Renta, Versace, Faconnable, and Escada dazzled on the runway during The Country Friends’ 58th Annual Art of Fashion Runway Show on September 19 in partnership with South Coast Plaza at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe.

“We are delighted to have had such an incredible lineup of designers taking part in this year’s show,” said Anna Waite, chair of this year’s Art of Fashion. “What a fabulous day of philanthropy and fashion,” added co-chair Patricia Mogul. Considered the premier style event in Southern California, the show included the latest trends from the fall/winter collections of Barbara Bui, Canali, Donna Karan, MaxMara, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Salvatore Ferragamo.

The event kicked off with boutique shopping, followed by the runway show and luncheon on the lawn. It concluded with Apres Affaire, a wine tasting hosted by Falkner Winery, and a first ever beer garden by Manzanita Brewing. Adding to the celebration, guests enjoyed live entertainment by the Grammy Award-winning Fuzzy Rankins Quartet. Throughout the day, the boutiques of South Coast Plaza offered the latest trends in clothing, handbags, jewelry, eyewear, and other accessories. Participating retailers included Barbara Bui, Donna Karan, Escada, Jo Malone, MaxMara, Salvatore Ferragamo, TOD’S, and Versace. Event emcee Dagmar Midcap, weather anchor for NBC 7 San Diego, was a sunny presence on this stylish day.

This year’s honorees were Rancho Santa Fe residents Jere and Joyce Oren, longtime supporters of The Country Friends, recognized for their commitment to community. Most recently, the Village Church Preschool in Rancho Santa Fe recognized the Orens for their generosity, which provided a substantial renovation of classrooms and offices.

“Helping San Diegans, One Hand at a Time” is the mission of The Country Friends’, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization formed in 1954. The organization raises funds for dozens of designated charities throughout San Diego County, primarily through proceeds from its consignment shop in Rancho Santa Fe. The shop specializes in exquisite furniture, antiques, rugs, silver, china, and objets d’art. Since its founding, The Country Friends has raised more than $12 million to support human care agencies throughout San Diego County.
