Backcountry Earth Day Celebration

Published

On Sunday, April 21, from 11am-4pm, the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy and San Dieguito River Park present an Earth Day celebration at the historic Santa Ysabel General Store and Backcountry Visitor Center. Festivities will include informational booths and an emporium stocked with heirloom and artisanal goodies carefully selected to satiate naturist as well as cultural tourists. Enjoy a special presentation by the California Wolf Center’s Kevin Schmelzlen on the repopulation of wolves in the Golden State from 1-2:30pm. He’ll discuss the natural history, ecology, biology, and behaviors of wolves. In conjunction with the Backcountry Earth Day celebration, the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy is leading a free guided-family hike at the Ramona Grasslands from 9-11am that morning.
