It Takes A Village

Published

The Manchester Grand Hyatt presents its fifth annual Gingerbread Village Holiday Program, complete with a series of festive events encouraging San Diegans to indulge in the spirit of giving — all to benefit the local Make a Wish Foundation chapter and Toys for Tots. The hotel welcomed third and fourth grade students from Barrio Logan’s Perkins Elementary, Southeast San Diego’s Kimbrough Elementary, and Downtown San Diego’s Monarch School to participate in decorating gingerbread houses. The students’ creations are now on display in the grand lobby, transformed into a spectacular Gingerbread Village centered around an impressive six-foot-high gingerbread replica of the hotel itself. The community is invited to vote for their favorite gingerbread house through Friday, December 14. The winning student group will present a $1,500 donation to the San Diego Make a Wish Foundation at a private holiday celebration that evening. During the holiday season, the Manchester Grand Hyatt will also serve as an official Toys for Tots drop off location, and visitors are encouraged to donate unwrapped, new toys for boys and girls. Toys for Tots will wrap and distribute these donations as holiday gifts to less fortunate children around San Diego County. (619/232-1234, www.manchestergrand.hyatt.com)
