Television News Babies

Published

In case you haven’t noticed, there’s been a “baby boom” on local television. In the past year or so, seven anchors and reporters for area news stations have given birth to “news babies,” a phenomenon captured by veteran photographer Bill Keane of Keane Studios, who has been busy shooting portraits of moms and their babes: Nichelle Medina of CBS8; Heather Myers, Courtney Dwyer, and Sabrina Fein of San Diego6; Monica Dean of NBC7; and Shally Zomorodi and Chrissy Russo of Fox5.

Nearly 20 years ago, Keane chronicled another baby boom — TV moms including Adrienne Alpert, Rory Devine, Marti Emerald, Kimberly Hunt, Sandra Maas, Andrea Naversen, Denise Yamada, and others were pregnant about the same time.

Keane is shooting new portraits of the group, now that those babies are all grown up. Photos will be displayed around town (including May 10 at Park Hyatt Aviara, click here for details) to help promote the “Little Stars Cutest Kids Contest,” kicking off this month, to raise money and awareness for the Rancho Santa Fe Unit of Rady Children’s Hospital and Health Center.

Is your little boy a mini James Dean? Does your daughter act like Scarlett O’Hara? Bring your kids to Keane Studios in Carmel Valley. Keane is donating photo session fees of $24 per child to Rady Children’s Hospital, and the public can vote for their favorites online for $1 a vote. Winners will be announced this summer.

For more information, or to book a photo session, please contact Keane Studios. (858/259-1900, www.keanestudios.com)    ALEXANDRA ALLEN
