The Gift Of Gardening

The Capri Elementary School garden was built during the spring of 2009 thanks to the help of a small school grant and an outpouring of community support from businesses including RCP, Peirano Topsoils, and Weidners’ Gardens, which donated needed supplies. Parents and students spent countless hours turning the hard ground into a beautiful garden, and the school now has a garden club that is in charge of planning, planting, and harvesting. To raise money and keep the garden going, the kids have implemented seasonal farmers’ markets at the school on Fridays. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts regularly weed it and keep it in great shape.
