Tango Nuevo

Published

The country of Argentina gets the spotlight this month as Camarada celebrates the lively country with concerts in three different venues featuring dancers from Tango Alma. Added will be the seductive rhythms of Astor Piazzolla, fascinating arrangements by film composer David Chesky, and traditional tango of Carlos Gardel. The result is Tango Nuevo: the pulse of Argentina. These sounds and images will fill the magnificent Great Hall of St. Paul’s Cathedral on January 22. The next night, the same concert will be performed in a private home, where guests will also enjoy fine wine, a gourmet bistro dinner, and a dessert and coffee reception with the artists. The same vibrant program, featuring flute, violin, accordion, and guitar, will be repeated at The Neurosciences Institute on the 24th. (619/231-3702, www.camarada.org)   DARLENE G. DAVIES
