The 13th Annual Patt Awards

Published

On Monday, January 18, Emmy Award-winner Pat Launer, San Diego’s only regularly broadcast theater critic for the past 25 years, will host the Emmy Award-nominated Patté Awards for Theater Excellence at the Westin Gaslamp Quarter, celebrating the very best in local theater. The gala celebration will feature a meet-and-greet, dinner, awards presentation, and exciting entertainment from musical theater productions of the past year. In addition to presenting 30 awards to local theatermakers, Launer also celebrates the next generation of creative theater artists via the third annual Patté Scholarship, The Dea and Osborn Hurston Award for a Promising Young Theatermaker, presented in honor of Floyd Gaffney, PhD, the father of African American theater in S.D. The scholarships will be presented to three students from the Preuss School, dedicated to providing a rigorous college prep education for low-income students who will become the first in their families to graduate from college.
