The Nutcracker

The Scripps Performing Arts Academy’s upcoming production of The Nutcracker promises to capture the magic and wonder of the holidays as seen through a child’s eyes. A new tradition will be added this year at The Grand Del Mar, which will host a “child-size” performance complete with narration and a sign-language interpreter and preceded by a festive, family-friendly holiday tea. The full-length ballet will be presented for the 17th year at Scripps Ranch High School Theatre with a cast of 170 children from ages 3 to 18. “We are proud to showcase some of the region’s most talented children who will be performing in this classic holiday tale,” notes Angela Amoroso, founder and artistic director of Scripps Performing Arts Company, which raises money for Isabella’s Giraffe Club in support of the UCSD Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and also provides bereavement support to families who suffer the loss of a child.
