On October 17, Tony Hawk, champion skateboarder, philanthropist, and entrepreneur received the Natural High Lifestyle Award at the Sunset Splash fundraising gala benefiting the Natural High DVD series. Hawk, having starred in the first two films, Natural High 1 & 2, sincerely supports the mission of the Sundt Memorial Foundation to reach kids with the Natural High message. Through the Tony Hawk Foundation, Hawk has exemplified the Natural High lifestyle by helping over 3 million children experience the same excitement he did as a young skateboarder. Hawk's enthusiasm and support for the Natural High cause, along with his commitment to children and drug-free lifestyles, makes him an international role model and leader in the Natural High way of life.
Sunset Splash, held this year at the Scripps Seaside Forum, is the yearly fundraising gala put on by Jon Sundt and the Sundt Memorial Foundation, creators and producers of the Natural High DVD series. With a silent and live auction and an exciting bidder frenzy, the event managed to raise a record-breaking $240,000, which constitutes more than half the budget needed to make and distribute the Natural High film to over 90,000 middle schools nationwide. Clips from the latest film, Natural High 4, were shared along with testimonials from a counselor and principal who flew all the way out from Euclid, Ohio to share the success and impact the Na tural High program has made in their school.
