We received an astonishing number of captivating home entries from all over Southern California for our first-ever Home Of The Year contest. With 100 percent of entry fees being donated to Habitat for Humanity, we are thrilled to reveal this year’s winner as chosen by a panel of Orange County- and Los Angeles-based design industry professionals (to ensure they were not directly affiliated with the entered homes).
The 2009 Home Of The Year contest winner is the Flamm residence of coastal Del Mar.
Perched atop the bluffs at the end of 4th Street, this Craftsman-style home offers spectacular views from every single room. Designed by Jim Sneed of Bokal & Sneed Architects and built by Joe Hanley of JDH Construction Company Inc., with interior design by Christine Fink, the open floor plan interconnects the kitchen, family room, living room, and dining rooms with a feeling of shared openness and spaciousness. The master bedroom boasts sand and whitewater views to the north and south and infinite views of the blue Pacific to the west. The home also offers a full basement with extra bedrooms, living room, and state-of-the-art media/family room.
In addition, a complete, detached guesthouse also offers an additional three bedrooms, three full baths, walnut flooring, alder cabinetry, and its own large basement. The home is currently listed with Maxine & Marti Gellens.
