Dress up your outdoor space in time for summer. Local residents Will and Jane Fowler explore and create art that is not just aesthetically pleasing but functional, eco-conscious, and meaningful. “For our projects, it is important to seek alternative material choices whenever possible,” Jane notes. “This may range from recycled surfboards and glass to mirror or found objects. Taking discarded surfboards that would otherwise end up in our landfills, and giving them a second life as a canvas for functional art or sculpture, we feel pays respect to their original creators as well as our planet.” The surfboard showers/sculptures are pre-plumbed for hot and cold water should you have those hook-ups already installed. Or simply attach one to a garden hose and you have an immediate functioning shower. The surface art can be customized with variables including bright colorful or subdued glass to designs with natural elements such as rocks and shells. Custom orders take approximately two to three weeks. (619/410-7553, www.willandjane.com) MIA STEFANKO
