Dining Predictions To Chew On
As we embark upon month three of the New Year, it might still be too early to tell which culinary predictions are coming true, but here are a few that have our mouths watering with anticipation. Epicurious.com cites the return of high-quality hotel dining, as well as a surge in cheesemongers rather than mixologists. The James Beard Foundation Blog forecasts a “Donut World Tour,” explaining that: “we’ll start seeing other regions’ and countries’ versions of them, such as the Texan kolache, Turkish lokma, or Portuguese malasada.” Sounds delish, albeit a bit taxing on the waistline. On the flip side, the blog also highlights diminishing portion sizes as a new trend to expect, especially at fine-dining establishments — from small plates to even single-bite servings. Talk about bringing new meaning to “the perfect bite.” MIA STEFANKO
