The secret is out — there’s more than s’mores and oceanfront campsites at the San Elijo State Beach Campground in Cardiff. Thanks to Greg Lukasiewicz and his wife, Laurel Manganelli, campers and locals can now also savor Bull Taco, an outdoor café that takes the snack shack concept to a whole new level. (Don't get me wrong — seating is still outdoors upon picnic tables among welcomed ocean breezes). Specializing in fresh local seafood and gourmet tacos — oyster, lobster, king crab, foie gras, and even one with lobster, bacon, and chorizo —  Bull Taco gives locals just what they want — incredibly delicious food at an affordable price with an idyllic ocean view. A second location opened this past May in Oceanside, which has a beer and wine license and offers flat screen TVs and a loungey, cozy atmosphere. “I like to let the guests that come to Bull Taco have a sense of freedom when they order their food,” explains chef David Volk. “We do whatever tastes great first and foremost, but also whatever it takes to make our guests’ palates happy and wanting to come back for more.” Additional menu standouts also include Halibut and Shrimp Ceviche and Oysters on the Half Shell.
