Pacifica Del Mar now has 20 brand new iPads at guests’ fingertips to showcase their extensive drink list. The catalog includes the restaurant’s wide selection of wine and beer as well as over 200 different kinds of vodka that are part of the Ocean Bar. The tablet computers contain images, pricing, tasting notes, and food pairing suggestions for each beverage. This form of education engages diners in a fully interactive experience that instills confidence and encourages them to try new selections.

The collective experience begins when diners are seated. Each table is given an iPad to search through over 400 beverages by name, price, region, or flavor profile. A server is then available to discuss recommendations and take orders. It is a convenient and comfortable way to ease the selection process and save guests’ time. The tablets are also connected to Pacifica’s POS system, so they are constantly updated with new information and patrons always know what is in stock and what is new.

“The addition of this technology makes our vast selection more approachable to guests,” says chef/partner Chris Idso. “By presenting our menu in a way that is fun, innovative, and informative, we are personalizing each guest’s visit by putting knowledge directly into their hands.”

The tablets also allow guests to access their own email or Facebook pages. Whether they want to remember that specialty vodka from a specific region or the incredible wine they had with dinner, Pacifica’s software provides a quick and efficient way diners can send themselves reminders so they can once again enjoy the choice beverages at home or on their next visit.
