Famed UCLA head women’s volleyball coach Mike Sealy will hold volleyball camps for girls this summer in Sorrento Valley. Sealy played college ball at UCLA and won a national championship as a player in 1993. He was named an All-American in 1991 and 1993, and played with the U.S. National Team in 1994 and 1997. He was named the AVCA Coach of the Year in 2011.
Recently, Sealy succeeded Andy Banachowski as head coach of the UCLA Women’s Volleyball Program in February 2010. Banachowski had been the head coach for more than 43 years. In his second year coaching the UCLA Women’s team, Sealy’s team won the NCAA Division I National Championship on December 17, 2011. In addition to his success at UCLA, he was named the AVCA Coach of the year in 2011.
“Mike Sealy is the brightest young coach in the college game," says Ozhan Bahrambeygui, director of Coast Volleyball Club. “To have him working with our kids only a few months after leading UCLA to a Division 1 National Championship, is both an honor and a privilege."
The Michael Sealy Volleyball Camps for girls 12-18 years old will be held at the Coast Volleyball Club facility in Sorrento Valley. Participants will be taught skills ranging from fundamentals to advanced techniques. The cost for each camp is $275. For the schedule and more info call Coast Volleyball Club.
