Wondering what to do with those only-worn-once formal dresses? Through February 2, the San Diego Armed Services YMCA is hosting a gown drive to collect new or gently used dresses appropriate for girls ages 3 to 16 years old, to be worn at Midnight Masquerade on February 19, a special dance for military fathers and their daughters. “The Father and Daughter Dance is a evening where girls walk on clouds spending one magical night with dad’s full attention,” notes Lyndsay Calhoun, youth and community outreach program director for ASYMCASD. “Military families and children make sacrifices every day — any dresses we receive will make each daughter’s night that much more special!” (858/751-5755, www.militaryymca.org) MIA STEFANKO
