From highly-skilled executive and digital media entrepreneur to surf camp innovator? It’s not all that far-fetched. For Cardiff resident Brian Casazza, owner and president of Fulcrum Surf, it seemed like a natural progression to apply his knack for successfully developing and leading companies towards something he’s always known and loved — surfing. “It feels really good to do something more active. Fulcrum Surf was originally founded by my partner Dan Mori,” notes Casazza, who signed on with the aim of expanding operations.
Fulcrum Surf fills a niche for surfers who are ready to take their act to the next level. Casazza and Mori designed a program that combines fitness, yoga, and surfing with expert coaching to help develop young bodies and minds. From beginner to advanced coaching, summer surf camps, independent surf PE programs, happy hour sessions for those needing to escape the nine-to-five, and international travel, participants can partake in year-round instruction, video analysis, career guidance, community outreach, and more. Fulcrum’s surf camps, both local and afar, offer comprehensive instruction with low student-to-teacher ratios, safety briefings from lifeguards, and sponsor goodie bags.
On June 11, Fulcrum Surf will partner with the nonprofit Mauli Ola Foundation to offer a free Cystic Fibrosis Surf Experience for children and young adults with CF, complete with equipment and coaches. Casazza concludes, “We are really proud of the program we designed, the team we have in place to support it, and the partnerships we have forged in the industry. We are looking forward to a great summer camp season this year, with lots of new equipment and activities for the kids.” (858/397-4491, www.fulcrumsurf.com) MIA STEFANKO
