Over the years, the Tribute to Women & Industry (TWIN) awards has paid tribute to more than 2,435 outstanding business women in San Diego and has raised more than $1.9 million to support the YWCA programs and Becky’s House over its 30 years. This year’s event raised $75,000 to help provide counseling, employment and legal assistance, and guidance for women, children, and families who are domestic violence survivors or are homeless to break the cycle of violence and achieve stable, secure lives. Trisha Meili, author of the best-selling memoir, I Am The Central Park Jogger: A Story Of Hope And Possibility, was the keynote speaker. Surviving a major trauma that nearly took her life, Ms. Meili demonstrated first-hand the capacity of the human body and spirit to heal, sharing her inspirational message of what it means to come back from nearly losing everything. Additionally, attendees at this year’s TWIN event enjoyed an inspirational message from special guest Mary Murphy, champion ballroom dancer and judge on the hit TV show, So You Think You Can Dance.
